Conference Code of Conduct
Conferences offer us all the opportunity to gain company and product knowledge,
to develop working relationships with vendors and to encourage a sense of camaraderie
among associates from across the country (both store associates as well as home
office associates).
Although conferences are designed to provide a mix of business and social activities,
certain standards of behaviour and interaction are expected of participants at all
times. Our informal atmosphere contributes to learning and open communication, but
we must be alert to the fact that everyone is entitled to be treated respectfully.
No one’s dignity should be compromised through behaviour by others that is inappropriate
or unwelcome. It is each individual’s responsibility to govern his or her behaviour
accordingly.
Appropriate attire is documented on our intranet site as well as on the invitations
sent to each associate and each vendor. If there is any confusion, we should observe
the company’s dress policy.
If alcohol is served during any part of the symposium (or during any free time off
site), the company expects that all participants who choose to drink alcohol will
do so responsibly. We have instructed the hotel and bartenders to abide by all liquor
laws, and to err on the side of caution. We want the conferences to be fun events,
but the company strongly discourages inebriated behaviour that can put people’s
safety and well being at risk. The conference starts early in the morning and we
want everyone to learn as much as possible. All participants are expected to be
on time for meal functions, meetings and workshops. Failure to do so will be documented.
