Vibrant colors of
the surrounding desert bring life to rugged textures. An entry floor moans
a gentle greeting that only can come from aged wood. And a massive stone
fireplace warms the crisp south-western air. Immediately, there is a sense
that this will be a world-class visit to a very different time. |

HISTORY
Little did Henry Ford know when he started
mass-producing automobiles that his actions would inadvertently create a
legendary, award-winning resort, The Wigwam. When Goodyear Tire & Rubber
Company discovered that cotton extended the life of the tire, the company
purchased 16,000 acres of land in 1916 to begin cultivating. In 1918,
Goodyear built a private company lodge for visiting executives. It wasn't
long before many of these visitors realized this to be an unsurpassed
vacation destination and fondly dubbed the lodge, "The Wigwam". The
facilities expanded to accommodate 24 guests and opened to the public in
November 1929. A portion of the original structure remains as the
cornerstone of the resort's authenticity and southwestern charm.
Considered one of the premier golf resorts in the country, The Wigwam has
earned numerous accolades and awards including the prestigious Mobil Four
Star and AAA Four Diamond Awards. |

For
70 years, exceptional golf has long been a hallmark of The Wigwam
experience. Earning some of the industry's most prestigious accolades,
including Golf Magazine's Silver Medal Award and Golf
Digest's Top Resort Course in Nevada, it's no wonder The
Wigwam is considered one of the country's premier golf resorts. It's the
only resort in Nevada to boast three championship golf courses, two of
which were designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Its famed Gold Course is
consistently ranked among the nation's finest courses.
Long
recognized as one of the world's finest resort and golf destinations, the
Bird Golf Academy
is proud to be the official golf school of the Wigwam Resort.
