Conference Letter

Thank you for joining us in the first Innovative Lidar Solutions Conference. As this first-time event comes to fruition, it is a special privilege for everyone at Optech to extend a warm welcome to you. The concept behind this conference originally came from the many LIDAR users and collaborators in the community who expressed a definite need for such a forum.

While other conferences offer excellent meeting opportunities focusing on scientific research, GIS and mapping technologies—even capturing existing conditions in real-world environments—we still noted a void when it came to discussing very specific issues surrounding LIDAR data collection, measurement and analysis, and finding real solutions to real problems. In response to this need, we are striving to provide a greater understanding of how LIDAR tools and systems can be optimized to take advantage of their full potential.

Through extensive presentations and direct interaction with other professionals also striving for equally challenging solutions, this conference will provide an opportunity for you to expand your vision of applying these tools. In addition to stationary and mobile LIDAR scanners, there are many technologies emerging, so a broad range of systems and techniques will be showcased.

Optech Incorporated was the original pioneer in developing LIDAR technologies, and continues to drive the leading edge of new instrumentation and techniques. That’s why we have organized this conference—we understand the importance of facilitating a greater interchange of ideas—ideas that open new avenues to innovative LIDAR solutions.

From the deepest underground mines to the most challenging bathymetric depth measurements, the highest performance aircraft-based scanners, the cold darkness of space and even the surface of Mars, Optech continues to provide LIDAR tools that enable the community to achieve the best possible results.
