Peter Drake

Peter Drake is Vice President, Retirement & Economic Research for Fidelity Investments Canada.

Peter leads the research into retirement and related economic issues and acts as spokesperson for Fidelity on retirement related topics such as; the effects of demographic changes and economic trends on retirement, retirement readiness, and the issues involved in living and working in retirement.

Peter Drake is widely known and respected as an economist. For over 35 years he worked with the economics department of the TD Bank Financial Group, including 11 years as a Vice President of the Bank and Deputy Chief Economist. More recently, he has acted as a consultant with the TD Bank Financial group, giving presentations to its clients, and as the economist for the Burns-Godard TD Waterhouse Private Investment Advice Advisory Team.

A major project for Peter was his analysis of the evolution of the Canada Pension Plan, in particular the significant changes to its funding model designed to ensure the sustainability of the plan. He has also studied Canada's demographic shift and its many important economic implications, especially for Canadian baby boomers approaching retirement.

Mr. Drake has conducted research and written articles on a wide range of economic and public policy issues -- work that has led to appearances before both federal and provincial government committees. He is frequently interviewed by the media and speaks about economic conditions to groups across North America.

Mr. Drake has taught economics at George Brown College in Toronto and has lectured on environmental economics at the University of Toronto. He is a member of the Advisory Committee on Financial Services Education at George Brown College and is a Director of the Toronto Association for Business and Economics. A native of Toronto, he received a B.A. from the University of Toronto and an M.A. in economics from Queen’s University. He has also taken advanced training in Economics at Carnegie Mellon University.


David Andrews Client Portfolio Manager

David is a member of our investment team based in Toronto. He is involved in all aspects of our investment process and works with our senior portfolio managers and analysts on manager search, performance attribution, and all investment related issues as they impact our clients. David provides technical investment assistance to our sales & service teams and is also responsible for investment product research and development with a focus on the needs of our institutional clients. Prior to joining SEI, David spent nine years with AGF Management Limited where he developed and managed customized investment portfolio solutions for both institutional and high net worth clients. David holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from Wilfrid Laurier University and he is a CFA charter holder, a member of the CFA Institute and of the Toronto CFA Society.

Scott Sinclair, CA

Scott is President and CEO of MRS. Scott is a Chartered Accountant and has been with MRS and the Mackenzie group of companies for 13 years. Scott has worked in the financial services industry for over 20 years, including the TSX and Midland Walwyn.

Scott has served on various industry committees (IFIC, FundServ) and on the Board of the Federation of Mutual Fund Dealers.

He has also served on the Boards of the Mid-Toronto Community Services, Canada’s National Ballet School, the Canadian Amateur Diving Foundation and the Aquatic Foundation of Canada.


Peter Viris

Born and raised in Toronto, Peter attended Ryerson University and started his career in the financial services sector in 1994 with Laurentian Bank. In 1997 Peter joined Agency Banking (formerly a division of Laurentian Bank, this sector laid the foundation for the current B2B Trust organization). To round out his career, Peter moved to Laurentian Bank’s Commercial Lending division in 2003 before ultimately re-joining B2B Trust in February 2007.

Peter has a passion for children and is actively involved in educating them at the elementary school level. Of course Peter’s passion for finance spills out into the classroom where he leads an educational program on the basics of managing money as part of Junior Achievement of Canada.

Peter currently lives in Mississauga where he is an active member of the community. He has been a Big Brother for the past year and a half and is passionate about playing a key role within local social services. An avid sports enthusiast, Peter enjoys participating in a wide variety of recreational activities.


Gregg Filmon, BA (econ.), MBAPresident

Gregg joined the management team of Value Partners Investments in May of 2005.

Gregg holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and an MBA from the University of Manitoba. He began his career in 1995 as an Investment Analyst at Cargill. Following that experience, he developed his marketing skills as a Senior Account Manager with Kenna Marketing, dramatically increasing Kenna's business with two Fortune 500 accounts in the United States. Prior to helping start Value Partners, Gregg employed his well-rounded education, work experience and exceptional people skills to manage the largest territory in Canada for Mackenzie Financial Inc. as Vice-President, Sales.

In addition to his professional commitments, Gregg served on the capital campaign committee for the Siemens Institute for Advanced Medicine at the Health Sciences Centre (a $12 Million capital campaign) and he co-founded the largest fundraising event in the history of Winnipeg’s financial services community: Winn$tock which has raised over $250,000 for local charities in the past 4 years.


Jamie Golombek, CA, CPA, CFP, CLU, TEP Vice President, Tax & Estate Planning
AIM Trimark Investments

Jamie joined AIM Trimark in 1996. His work involves both internal and external consulting on all areas of taxation and estate planning. He is also responsible for AIM Trimark’s Tax & Estate InfoService, which provides detailed information to financial advisors on various tax & estate planning inquiries.

Jamie is quoted frequently in the national media as an expert on taxation, writes a weekly column called “Tax Expert” in the National Post and is a monthly columnist for both Advocis’ Forum magazine, a trade journal for financial advisors, as well as Advisor’s Edge Report. He has also appeared on national television on CBC Newsworld and BNN - Business News Network.

Prior to joining AIM Trimark, Jamie was a tax specialist in the Toronto office of Deloitte & Touche, where he specialized in both personal and corporate tax planning. He received his B.Comm. from McGill University, earned his CA designation in Ontario and qualified as a U.S. CPA in Illinois. He has also obtained his Certified Financial Planning (CFP) and Chartered Life Underwriting (CLU) designations.

In September 2006, Jamie was awarded the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario’s Award of Distinction, which honours those CAs who have made an early impact, bringing distinction to themselves and to their profession through leadership and achievement in their professional, community and/or personal lives. Jamie is the current chair of the Investment Funds Institute of Canada’s Tax Working Group as well as a member of the Ontario Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Illinois CPA Society, the Estate Planning Council of Toronto, the Canadian Tax Foundation and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

In his spare time, Jamie teaches an MBA course in Personal Finance at the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto.


Alexander Lane

Alex Lane is a portfolio manager for the Power team and since joining Goodman & Company in 2000, he has worked closely with Chief Investment Strategist Rohit Sehgal to formulate the top-down and bottom-up approaches used to manage Dynamic Power Small Cap Fund.

Previously, Alex was a vice president at TD Asset Management Inc. where he covered Canadian small cap and global technology stocks. He joined TD Bank Financial Group in 1991 and served in various positions before entering the investment management business in 1996.

Alex holds the CFA designation and has a BComm. (Hons.) from Queen’s University.


Jonathan Wellum, B.Comm., B.Sc., MA, MBA, CFA Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer, AIC Limited

Jonathan Wellum joined AIC Limited in 1990 and has served as a member of AIC’s senior management team. In August 2002, he was appointed Chief Investment Officer. In October 2006, Jonathan was appointed Chief Executive Officer.

He currently manages the AIC Diversified Canada Fund, and oversees AIC Private Portfolio Counsel which includes AIC’s institutional and high net worth business. In addition, Jonathan co-manages a number of exchange-traded funds focused on the financial services industry, along with the AIC American Advantage Fund.

Prior to joining AIC, Jonathan held positions in corporate accounting at Deloitte & Touche as well as CUMIS Insurance. Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Business Administration degree from McMaster University, and Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo. He completed his formal education with a Master of Arts degree in Theology from Trinity Seminary (Chicago). He also holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Charlie Cummings District Vice President, Sales

Charlie Cummings is a District Vice President at AGF Funds Inc. managing a sales force in Ontario. Charlie has been in the industry since 1993. Over the years, he has spent time working with successful advisors providing solutions to improve efficiency, profitability and growth of advisor's businesses.

Prior to his start in financial services, Charlie lived and worked in Tokyo, Japan where he immersed himself in the culture, studied the language and supported himself teaching English at a Tokyo College. This experience assisted him in being able to learn the obscure language of financial services.

Charlie resides in Toronto with his wife Cari and his daughter, Paige and son, Tom. He grew up in Collingwood, Ontario where he developed his life long passion for skiing and mountain biking. Charlie plays hockey but badly. He has competed and coached alpine skiing and has completed the Toronto International Marathon. As a result he is now an avid road biker.
